Let's meet at 1:10 PM on Monay May 3 in the South Senate Gallery for the reading and signing of the Senate Resolution on Public Service Recognition Week. Ryan will receive the resolution from Sen. Barrientos. Bring a camera and be sure you're on leave or have the OK from your employer, as appropriate. We need at least 6 to be at the lower end of the "not shabby" category so let's aim higher. Everyone is also invited to come by TDHS, 701 West 51st, on Thursday May 6 for the "Serving the Public Together" Information Fair, where we'll have an ASPA booth and would like to have several Council members available to explain ASPA during the "face time" of 11 AM until 1 PM (see http://www.dhs.state.tx.us/regops/psrw99.htm ). The fair will run from 10 AM until 2 PM, and you're invited. If you'd like to exhibit at the fair for your agency or a non-profit group that collaborates with government or provides professional development or community service opportunities, please let me or Sharon Zambrzycki know by May 4. Finally, let's get the word-of-mouth, phone and e-mail trees going so the general membership will know about these opportunities. If each of us contacted only a 8 or so on the membership list, we could tell about the Senate resolution event, the fair day, and (most of all) remind them to RSVP by May 4 for the May 7 banquet. The typo on the card ("Friday May 6") may be just enough to confuse someone, so it will probably be appreciated by members to be called. Eddie, do you have an electronic version of the membership list that you could distribute to the Council with assignments to call portions of the list? If so, if you'll make the assignments, I'll bet we can get a good turnout at all three of our events during Public Service Recognition Week. Oh yeah, please check out the announcements on the website at http://www.main.org/aspa. See the announcements page and look for the link to the abstract for one of the winning papers. Other winner's abstract will be there soon. And don't forget to RSVP to Doyle by May 4. Posters aren't in yet but are expected before Monday...so plan on taking a few to post in your office buildings and community organizations. Thanks.
